This week has been HARD. I’ve been MIA online mainly because I haven’t wanted to bring anyone down. I’m really trying to manage my time but I feel like a failure. The way I see it, I have three basic personas. There is Shannon the mom, Shannon the wife and Shannon the employee. This week (if I’m honest with myself it’s been a bit longer) I feel like I haven’t been doing a great job at any of them. I’m lacking time and initiative and motivation. I’m exhausted all the time. I’m falling asleep at 8:00pm only to be woken up every few hours by the monkeys (usually Daisy). In January, I decided to add a fourth persona – Shannon the Blogger. So now I have a fourth place I fall short. As my son would say, “Big Sad.”
I know that part of the problem revolves around my exhaustion and the need to start taking better care of myself. I’ve always been a person who not only thrived on, but actually required an exercise routine for both my physical and mental health. Since becoming a mom, I have pretty much abandoned my healthy habits and I’m not even sure how I got here. I think I’d feel a thousand times better for kids and husband (and have more energy and therefore get more done) if I could just start working out even three times a week. It just feels like an almost insurmountable mountain. I’ve been here before and managed to kick my own ass into action so I need to stop making excuses and just make it happen. It’s not a matter of weight loss, though that will (hopefully) be a welcome byproduct of a consistent routine. Blah blah blah, boring, boring, boring, snore.
Anyway, I’m working on it. Hope to have something positive to report next week. In the meantime…
