AN EXORCISM*

I am a maker of lists. I love ‘em. Now that I’ve started a mega-positive creative project, I just need to purge the ugly so to speak. So here goes. Read at your own peril. I know a couple of people who could write this better than I ever could (I'm talking to you Brandon and Josh) but that’s okay. I’m gonna give it a shot.

THE SHITE LIST

1. It’s bullshit when people confuse friendship with obligation.
2. It’s bullshit when people impose their agendas upon others (religious, political, sexual) without understanding or empathy for opposing points of view.
3. Sharing intimate details of your personal life via social media. Yup. Bullshit.
4. It’s bullshit when women continue to be mean girls long after their high school days are over. If you’re still acting like you’re in a sorority when you’re over 30 or at work, you’re total fucking bullshit.
5. It’s bullshit that I murder all ferns, foliage, greenery and shrubs. 
6. It’s bullshit that xenophobia is often cloaked in patriotism.
7. Judgy parents are bullshit and we will not hang out with you. Just raise your kids in whatever patchwork fashion that works for you. Let me raise mine. If I’m not wearing my baby or co-sleeping that doesn’t make me a bad mom. But you know what? Modeling bad behavior for your kids in the form of judging others? Kind of bullshit.
8. It’s total bullshit that this country offers such substandard maternity leave. And don’t get me going on paternity leave.
9. It’s bullshit that corporate social responsibility is not a baseline for good business.  
10. Illiteracy is bullshit. It's a special kind of absurd bullshit that it is a point of pride for some people that they are TOO BUSY to read. I'm too busy to learn stuff. Genius bullshit.
11. The Kardashians
12. Our justice system. 
13. The American Dream? Bullshit for an awful lot of hardworking people. 
14. If your most intimate relationship is with your phone? If you think it’s okay to text through dinner with friends or loved ones? You guessed it. 

*Recent posts have shifted away from the kids, but they'll be back. I use this blog to keep myself sane sometimes. From here on out, if you see an asterisk in the post title, you can assume I'm getting a little feisty. If this sort of post is not your cup o' joe, you best be movin' on. But it's also bullshit when people get on their high horse too often, so I'm putting Ol' Paint back in the barn now.
